Features

The amazing Universal plate mill is able to mill virtually any product, from oily products such as peanuts for peanut butter, spices, coffee, grain such as sorghum, maize, wheat, rye, cassava. Also products like sugar, salt, beans etc. can be efficiently milled.

Maintenance and running cost is extremely low - a set of plates, which can be used both sides, can last up to 12 months with low replacement cost.

Power requirements is low 4 kW or 5.5 kW motors are used for grain milling capacity up to 600kg/hour.

The mill can work off a diesel or petrol driven engine.

Capital outlay for acquisition is low.

The fineness of coarseness of milling can easily be adjusted.

The mill can optionally easily be fitted with stones instead of plate to provide a very fine grind such as for chillies, paprika and other spices.

With open plates, the mill can be used to de-hull sunflower and similar seeds.

The Universal Mill is a three in one mill - hammer mill attachment can be fitted as can stones be fitted in addition to the standard steel plates fitted.

Operations manual: Universal Plate Mill

BEFORE STARTING THIS MACHINE PLEASE ENSURE AN APPROPRIATE DIRECT ON LINE STARTER WITH THERMAL OVERLOAD PROTECTION IS FITTTED AND THE AMPS ARE SET IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MOTOR SPECIFICATION. MOTOR WARRANTY IS VOID WITHOUT STARTER. ONLY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN SHOULD CONNECT THIS 380V 3 PHASE MOTOR. IF INCORRECTLY CONNECTED, THE MOTOR WOULD SINGLE PHASE AND BURN.

The Universal Plate mill has been designed for the milling of grains such as sorghum, maize, wheat as well as other products such as spices, cassava and nuts through introduction of the product from a hopper into the center of one revolving and one stationary steel plate.

Optionally grinding stones may also be fitted in the place of the steel plates, thereby enabling the machine to mill to extremely fine particle size.

OPERATION

The fineness or coarseness of milling is enabled through moving the plates closer or further apart. This is done through loosening the adjustment arm by turning the knob attached to the arm clockwise to fasten and anti-clockwise to release. The adjustment arm can then be moved freely upwards and downwards. The higher the arm is lifted, the closer the plates will move towards each other and vice versa. When starting the mill, the plates should be loosened ie. The adjustment arm should be in the downward position. After starting, the arm is loosened and slowly moved to a position where the plates almost touch each other. The feeding of product into the mill can now be started through opening the feeding gate by moving the feeder opening gate arm backwards (ie. Towards the V-belt side of the mill).

The size of the feeder gate opening can be adjusted by locking the lock device of the feed arm, thereby enabling the same amount of product to be fed into the mill consistently.

CAUTION

Do not open the plate covers while the mill is in operation or when the plates are turning.

Do not open the fan belt cover while the motor is running.

Do not adjust the plates to where a high screeching noise is heard, this means the plates are running onto each other and will cause excessive wear on the plates.

Do not feed raw material with stones or metal. A proper cleaning system is mandatory for any warranty claim to be entertained.

The Belt cover is fastened.

The electric motor cover is in place and fastened.

Electric cords are whole and out of harm's way.

A direct on line starter with thermal protection should be installed to ensure protection of the motor where applicable.

Plates are properly fastened and properly aligned so the gap between plates are equal all over.

The bearings on the mill are sealed units and need not be greased. Replacement of bearings may be required from time to time.
